Iowa Central Career Connections Events

Iowa Central Career Connections offers various career exploration events to help students learn more about the different career opportunities in our area. The goal of these career exploration events are to help expose students to an assortment of various careers that may match their interests. These events allow students to hear from business professionals in the area first-hand about the skills as well as the requirements for their specific career.

Career on Wheels

Career on Wheels is an event for fifth graders where we bring in different vehicles from the community to represent various jobs. Students are able to interact with a speaker, tour the vehicle, and learn more about their specific career. The students learn more about the different skills sets and requirements about local jobs.

Career Discovery Days

Career Discovery Days help area high school student get a better understanding of specific careers with hands on experiences that connects them with business leaders in our community and surrounding areas. The following Career Discovery Days are: Business Day, Agriculture Day, Healthcare Day, Transportation Day, STEM Day, Culinary Day, Education Day, Human Services Day, Building Trades Day, Public Safety Day, Arts & Communication Day and Manufacturing Day.

Financial Literacy Fairs

Financial literacy fairs is the culmination of career exploration and personal financial management. Students choose a career during this interactive event and receive a sample monthly paycheck to use at the Financial Literacy Fair for life expenses in their budget. The Fair is a great complement to classroom learning through a virtual reality simulation illustrating the importance of understanding wants versus needs.
